La opinión SCCS/1630/21, adoptada el 24-25 de junio de 2021 a solicitud de la Comisión Europea, evalúa el platino (nano), el platino coloidal (nano) y el acetil tetrapéptido-17 platino coloidal (nano) notificados bajo el artículo 16 del Reglamento (CE) 1223/2009. El SCCS concluye que no es posible realizar la evaluación de seguridad por información limitada o ausente, y que los datos aportados no cumplen la Guía SCCS 1611/19 ni el Memorándum SCCS/1524/13. El comité considera además que existe una base de preocupación por un posible riesgo para el consumidor por el uso de estos nanomateriales en cosméticos, y queda a disposición para evaluar nueva evidencia que sustente su uso seguro. La opinión no adopta medida regulatoria alguna ni fija plazos de aplicación.

About Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009
Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 lists the substances whose use is expressly prohibited in cosmetic products placed on the European Union market. Inclusion in this annex results from the scientific assessment of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), which determines that the substance cannot be used safely in any cosmetic product regardless of concentration or category of use. Once the prohibition is published in the Official Journal of the EU through a Commission Regulation, manufacturers and Responsible Persons are given a transitional period to withdraw non-compliant products from the market. The CosIng database, maintained by the European Commission, updates this list periodically.
