El SCCS adoptó el 3-4 de marzo de 2020 su opinión final SCCS/1614/19 (submission III) sobre el Zinc Pyrithione (ZPT, CAS 13463-41-7). Concluye que la sustancia es segura como anticaspa en productos capilares de enjuague hasta una concentración máxima de 1%, conforme a las condiciones del Artículo 15(d) del Reglamento (CE) 1223/2009. La evaluación responde a la propuesta de clasificación del ZPT como CMR 1B por el RAC de ECHA (septiembre de 2018), que implica la prohibición general salvo excepción del Artículo 15(2). El SCCS no expresa preocupaciones científicas adicionales sobre el uso del ZPT en cosméticos.

About Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009
Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 lists the substances whose use is expressly prohibited in cosmetic products placed on the European Union market. Inclusion in this annex results from the scientific assessment of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), which determines that the substance cannot be used safely in any cosmetic product regardless of concentration or category of use. Once the prohibition is published in the Official Journal of the EU through a Commission Regulation, manufacturers and Responsible Persons are given a transitional period to withdraw non-compliant products from the market.
